La Facultad de Bellas Artes de la Universidad de Granada organiza la Exposición Internacional de Cómic y Narración Gráfica “Historias de sitio”, que da inicio al Festival Internacional de Arte BAG 8.

BAG 8 es la octava edición del Festival Internacional de Arte organizado por la Facultad de Bellas Artes con el respaldo del Vicerrectorado de Internacionalización de la Universidad de Granada. BAG promueve y difunde encuentros, proyectos colaborativos e investigaciones artísticas internacionales. Se desarrolla a lo largo del año a través de diversos eventos y acciones. Implica la participación de estudiantes, alumni, docentes, investigadores/as y artistas vinculados/as a cualquier facultad o centro de estudios artísticos en cualquier parte del mundo.
Tras la edición anterior, titulada “un Raro incidente: historias pequeñas e identidad de lugar”, el Festival da paso a “un Raro incidente II –La imagen clavada–”. Bajo este título, continúa la curiosa recopilación de sucesos extraños y aparentemente insignificantes que han quedado clavados en la memoria colectiva de quienes los vivieron, vieron u oyeron, y que modifican la forma en que recordamos los lugares.
En este contexto, el proyecto expositivo “Historias de sitio”, que abre esta edición del festival, celebra la potencia del cómic y la narración gráfica como lenguaje universal, capaz de cruzar fronteras sin perder su anclaje en lo íntimo y lo local. La muestra reúne veinticinco obras que condensan visualmente un suceso particular, narrado desde la experiencia o el arraigo de sus autores, en lugares tan diversos como el pueblo de Montefrío, la Reserva Ecológica Costanera Sur de Buenos Aires, una cementera abandonada en Atarfe, un barrio cualquiera de Bogotá o una casa en los campos croatas. Cada historia emerge como testimonio de un territorio vivido, evocando paisajes, recuerdos o atmósferas que trascienden el mapa. Las obras seleccionadas revelan así una pluralidad de técnicas, estilos y sensibilidades que atraviesan el mundo contemporáneo de la narración visual, reafirmando su riqueza, su fuerza expresiva y su capacidad de resonar más allá de los márgenes.
La selección de artistas y proyectos, recibidos mediante convocatoria pública internacional, ha sido realizada por un comité integrado por destacados profesionales de la ilustración y la novela gráfica: Sergio García, ilustrador, dibujante de cómic y catedrático del Departamento de Dibujo en la Facultad de Bellas Artes de Granada; Lola Moral, artista multidisciplinar, colorista gráfica y guionista; Nacho Belda, dibujante, ilustrador y profesor del Departamento de Dibujo en la Facultad de Bellas Artes de Granada; Candela Sierra, ilustradora, dibujante de cómic, guionista y profesora en la Escuela Minúscula de Ilustración en Madrid; Irina Selaru, ilustradora y diseñadora gráfica con base en Londres y Jesús Osorio, vicedecano de Relaciones Internacionales de la Facultad de Bellas Artes, director de BAG y comisario de la exposición.
La Facultad de Bellas Artes de Granada ha sido, y continúa siendo, un motor de creación y proyección para relevantes autores y autoras de cómic. Con este proyecto, buscamos ofrecer un espacio que dé visibilidad al cómic contemporáneo y a las investigaciones que lo rodean, tanto dentro como fuera de nuestras fronteras, dando a conocer el trabajo de nuestros y nuestras estudiantes y alumni, e invitando a jóvenes artistas de la narración gráfica de otros países a contarnos sus historias de sitio, favoreciendo el diálogo y el descubrimiento de nuevas voces, investigaciones y formas de entender este lenguaje.
Como actividad paralela conectada con la exposición, el reconocido ilustrador y autor de cómics Juanjo Guarnido, egresado de la Facultad de Bellas Artes, visitará el centro el viernes 16 de mayo a las 11:00 h como invitado del ciclo de entrevistas "Distinguidas y Distinguidos Alumni UGR", organizado por el programa Alumni de la Universidad de Granada. El evento, que tendrá lugar en la misma Sala de Exposiciones, será una oportunidad excepcional para dialogar con una de las figuras más destacadas del cómic contemporáneo, enriqueciendo la experiencia colectiva de nuestro centro en torno al proyecto “Historias y de sitio” y reforzando el compromiso del festival con nuestros egresados.
La exposición podrá visitarse desde el 15 de mayo a las 11:30 y hasta el 6 de junio, de lunes a viernes, de 9:00 a 21:00 h, en la Sala de Exposiciones de la Facultad de Bellas Artes

The Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Granada is organising the International Exhibition of Comic and Graphic Narratives “Stories of Place,” which opens the International Art Festival, BAG 8.
BAG 8 is the eighth edition of the International Art Festival organised by the Faculty of Fine Arts with the support of the Vice-Rectorate for Internationalisation at the University of Granada. BAG promotes and spreads international artistic encounters, collaborative projects, and research. It unfolds throughout the year through various events and actions, involving students, alumni, faculty members, researchers, and artists connected to any faculty or centre of artistic studies worldwide.
Following the previous edition, titled “a Rare incident: little stories and place identity,” the festival now presents “a Rare incident II –The stuck image–". Under this title, the curious collection of strange and seemingly insignificant events continues — events that have become embedded in the collective memory of those who lived, witnessed, or heard them, and that shape the way we remember places.
Within this context, the exhibition project “Stories of place”, which launches this edition of the festival, celebrates the power of comics and graphic storytelling as a universal language, capable of crossing borders while remaining rooted in the intimate and the local. The exhibition brings together twenty-five works that visually condense a specific event, narrated through the lived experience or the roots of their authors, in various places such as the town of Montefrío, the Costanera Sur Ecological Reserve in Buenos Aires, an abandoned cement factory in Atarfe, a random neighbourhood in Bogotá, or a house in the Croatian countryside. Each story emerges as a testimony to a lived territory, evoking landscapes, memories, or atmospheres that transcend the map. The selected works reveal a plurality of techniques, styles, and sensibilities that cross the contemporary world of visual storytelling, reaffirming its richness, expressive strength, and ability to resonate beyond borders.
The selection of artists and projects - submitted through an international open call - was carried out by a committee composed of prominent professionals in illustration and graphic novels: Sergio García, illustrator, comic artist, and professor in the Department of Drawing at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Granada; Lola Moral, multidisciplinary artist, graphic colourist, and scriptwriter; Nacho Belda, cartoonist, illustrator, and professor in the Department of Drawing at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Granada; Candela Sierra, illustrator, comic artist, scriptwriter, and teacher at the Escuela Minúscula de Ilustración in Madrid; Irina Selaru, illustrator and graphic designer based in London; Jesús Osorio, Vice Dean for International Relations at the Faculty of Fine Arts, director of BAG, and curator of the exhibition.
The Faculty of Fine Arts of Granada has been, and continues to be, a driving force of creation and projection for prominent comic authors. With this project, we aim to offer a space that gives visibility to contemporary comics and related research, both within and beyond our borders, showcasing the work of our students and alumni and inviting young graphic storytellers from other countries to share their stories of place, encouraging dialogue and the discovery of new voices, research, and ways of understanding this language.
As a parallel activity connected to the exhibition, renowned illustrator and comic author Juanjo Guarnido, an alumnus of the Faculty of Fine Arts, will visit the centre on Friday, May 16th at 11:00 am as a guest in the interview series "Distinguished Alumni UGR", organized by the University of Granada's Alumni Program. The event, which will take place in the same Exhibition Hall, is an exceptional opportunity to engage with one of the most outstanding figures in contemporary comics, enriching the collective experience of our centre around the “Stories of place” project and reinforcing the festival’s commitment to its graduates.
The exhibition will be open for visits from May 15th at 11:30 am until June 6th, Monday to Friday, from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm, in the Exhibition Hall of the Faculty of Fine Arts.
