La Facultad de Bellas Artes de la Universidad de Granada organiza “BAG 5th: International Arts Festival”, en colaboración con el Vicerrectorado de Internacionalización de la UGR.
BAG 5th promueve y difunde las investigaciones artísticas llevadas a cabo por estudiantes y profesores vinculados a nuestra Facultad bajo los distintos programas de movilidad nacional e internacional desarrollados en el curso académico 2021-22.
En esta quinta edición, la Sala de Exposiciones de nuestra Facultad acoge la exposición internacional “Take a look”, de Lidija Srebotnjak y Mirjana Blagojev. Esta muestra podrá ser visitada del 17 al 26 de mayo, de 10h a 14h y de 17h a 20h.
“Take a look” exhibe los proyectos de dos artistas quienes proponen una reflexión en el ejercicio de la mirada, cuestionando los límites entre un vistazo y la observación en profundidad desde distintas perspectivas.
En este sentido, Lidija Srebotnjak nos presenta el proyecto “About the Place” (2022). Situado entre su infancia y su presente, el lugar existe como una constante. Está determinado por su arquitectura, su dirección postal, su posición sobre la ciudad, así como por su uso diario y su potencial emocional presente en su vida a lo largo de los años. En este proyecto, dicha interacción ha sido documentada, con mayor o menor intención, a través de fotografías de eventos, objetos, y personas en diferentes periodos durante un lapso de tiempo determinando el trabajo in situ, en un proceso sobre trazar el tiempo y su capacidad relacional con eventos y situaciones. Utilizando posiciones idénticas, registrando la luz, las sombras, y las estaciones, es posible observar todos los cambios en la realidad física: el cambio de escenario, la devastación de la arquitectura urbana, etc.
La obra está compuesta por fotografías de un álbum familiar recogidas en la segunda mitad de los años sesenta, el periodo en el que la infancia de Lidija Srebotnjak coincide con la aparición de la ciudad moderna y la arquitectura contemporánea, la cual es comparada con la situación presente tanto en el espacio público como en el privado. El flujo de eventos es visible a través de la impresión de fotografías así como textos inscritos en láminas de papel transparente como citas del pasado situadas en el presente del lugar.
“About the Place” está representado por puntos de documentos del espacio auténticos en conexión con la Sala de Exposiciones de la Facultad de Bellas Artes de la Universidad de Granada. Estas interconexiones toman forma con nuevas referencias en texto en tres idiomas: Serbio, Español e Inglés, algunas fotografías a impresiones digitales nuevas, la transparencia del material en sí mismo y la realización in situ.
Por su parte, Mirjana Blagojev presenta “The story of the absurd” (2022) en donde explora el fenómeno de la transparencia y el reflejo, utilizando cristal y espejo como materiales base. El proyecto se centra en la investigación de las relaciones entre las obras de arte y su entorno. A través de estos trabajos, también examina el doble significado de la palabra reflexión, como el retorno de la luz desde una superficie y como un pensamiento. El reflejo propicia la interacción entre la obra de arte y el observador, quien se convierte de esta manera en parte de la instalación y un participante activo de la misma, junto con el espacio que la rodea, situando la historia en el momento presente.
La serie de instalaciones murales titulada “The story of the absurd” está inspirada en el Mito de Sísifo. Representaron el reflejo en el tema de lo absurdo, apoyándose en la interpretación de Camu del Mito de Sísifo en la que coloca el absurdo al principio, señalando que la vida misma es absurda y desde esta postura reexamina el significado de la vida humana y la existencia. Sin considerar a Sísifo un mártir, concluye que “The struggle itself to reach the summit is sufficient to fulfill the human heart. We should think of Sisyphus as happy.” [La lucha misma para llegar a la cima es suficiente para llenar el corazón humano. Deberíamos pensar en Sísifo como alguien feliz]. Situando esta historia en el centro de los sucesos, Mirjana Blagojev desea señalar que esto es un problema crucial en cualquier momento para cada persona. En este pensamiento lo individual y lo general se entrelazan, y su equilibrio podría ser considerado la esencia del arte, la filosofía y la ciencia.

The Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Granada organizes “BAG 5th: International Arts Festival”, in collaboration with the Vice-rectorate for Internationalization of the UGR.
BAG 5th promotes and disseminates the artistic research carried out by the students and the teachers linked to our Faculty under different national and international mobility programs developed during the 2021-22 academic year.
In this 5th edition, the exhibition hall of our Faculty hosts the international exhibition “Take a Look”, by Lidija Srebotnjak and Mirjana Blagojev. This sample can be visited from 17th to 26th May, from 10 to 14h and 17 to 20h.
“Take a look” shows the projects of two artists who propose a reflection on the exercise of the gaze, questioning the limits between the glance and the in-depth observation from different perspectives.
In this sense, Lidija Srebotnjak presents us the project “About the Place” (2022). Situated between her childhood and her present, the place exists as a constant. It is determined by its architecture, its address, its position above the town, as well as by its everyday use and emotional potential present in her life over the years. In this project, this interaction has been recorded, more or less intentionally, through photographs of events, objects, and people in different periods over a span of years thus determining the work in situ, as a process of tracing the time and its relational capability with events and situations. By using the identical positions, recording the light, the shadows, and the seasons, it is possible to observe all the changes of the physical reality: the change of scenery, the devastation of the urban architecture, etc.
The work is comprised of photographs from a family album collected in the second half of the 1960s, the period of Lidija Srebotnjak’s childhood which coincides with the emergence of a modern city and contemporary architecture, and which is compared with the present situations in both private and public space. The flow of events is visible through the prints of photos as well as in the text inscribed in the sheets of transparent paper as quotations of the time past situated in the present of the place.
“About the Place” is represented as points of authentic space documents in connection with the Exhibition Hall of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Granada. These interconnections will be shaped through the new text reference in three languages: Serbian, Spanish and English, some new photography and digital prints, the transparency of the material itself and in situ realization.
On his side, Mirjana Blagojev presents “The story of the absurd” (2022) in which she explores the phenomenon of transparency and reflection, using glass and mirror as basic materials. The project is based on the research of the relations between artwork and its environment. Through these artworks she also examines the dual meaning of the word reflection - as the return of the light from the surface and as a thought. Reflection enables interaction between artwork and the observer, who in this way becomes a part of the installation itself and an active participant, together with the space surrounding it, setting the story in the present moment.
The series of wall installations titled “The story of the absurd” is inspired by the Myth of Sisyphus. They represent reflection on the theme of absurdity, relying on Camu’s interpretation of the Myth of Sisyphus in which he puts the absurd at the beginning, pointing out that life itself is absurd and from this position reexamines the meaning of human’s life and existence. Not considering Sisyphus a martyr, he concludes that “The struggle itself to reach the summit is sufficient to fulfill the human heart. We should think of Sisyphus as happy.” Putting this story at the center of events, Mirjana Blagojev wishes to point out that this is a crucial issue at any time and for every person. In this thought the individual and the general are interlaced, and their balance can be regarded as the essence of art, philosophy and science.
